Connecting

Here at Shallowford, we feel the best way to understand  and respect our teenagers is to invest time and evergy getting to know them. Meeting them where they are, visiting them in their homes, going to their school functions, seeking all the opportunities we can for direct contact with them both individually and in groups. A youth program that accepts young people as they are, that wishes to respond to their needs, and that helps them grow in the faith, will provide opportunities to:

  • GROW in their relationship with Christ.
  • DEVELOP greater self-worth and feel better about themselves.
  • SHOW concern for the needs of others.
  • SERVE those who are less fortunate.
  • DEVELOP values and morals which they own.
  • SHARE their deepest concerns and hurts with others.
  • FORM close friendships and trust relationships with other young people and adults.
  • DEVELOP a private devotional life.
  • SHARE in congregational worship.
  • LEARN what it means to lead a Christ-centered life.
  • BECOME a part of the body of Christ as manifested in the church.

In order to grow closer with our young people, we offer these weekly connections:

  • Sunday school from 9:30 to 10:30am
  • Chapel Choir on Sunday evenings from 4:30 to 6:00pm
  •  Youth Fellowship on Sunday evenings from 6:00 to 8:00pm
  • Bible Study on Wednesday evenings from 5:30 to 6:30pm

In addition, to these weekly opportunities we grow closer together through trips and retreats, service projects, and school and social functions.
